So there is a guy, who shall remain nameless, who is 25 years old. He is the type who REALLY wants to get married. He talks about things he wants to do with his future wife, what he wants his wedding to be like, his future kids, his future house, blah blah blah. When we first started conversing on more than a leader-volunteer basis, he asked me question after question, like he was checking them off of his wife list! I explained to him that I was not interested in getting married anytime soon, and that I actually ENJOY being single (God forbid). I explained to him my nogoodunderthirty theory and he immediately tried to prove me wrong. He went on to say, “well somewhere in the Bible it says that men should get married young” and “I’m an old soul so I’m different.” Seriously? I mean, really. He would make up reasons why he is different and an exception to my rule, and ended every conversation with “you will never know because you are guarded and closed off immediately to any man under 30.” The thing he doesn’t know is that with every word he spoke, he proved my point more and more. If you have to CONVINCE me that you’re mature enough for marriage, you’re definitely not mature enough for marriage.
